Below are the guidelines laid down by MHA that needs to be adhered to strictly.

In light of the developments around the spread of Coronavirus in India, MHA laid down certain guidelines during lockdown announcing the extension up to 3rd May 2020. Only selected activities will be allowed from 20th April onwards to mitigate the effects of the lockdown on industries, organizations, and the general public. These additional activities will be carried out under strict adherence to the existing lockdown measures.

The following are some of the guidelines issued by the MHA

  1. Standard procedures for offices, workplaces, factories and establishments
  • All areas on the premises including the following should be disinfected completely. Like entrance gates, cafeteria and canteens, meeting room, conference halls, open areas, bunkers, verandah, washroom, toilet, sink, water points, walls and all other surfaces.
  • All vehicles and machinery entering the premises should be disinfected by spray compulsorily.
  • Mandatory thermal scanning of everyone entering and exiting the workplace.
  • Medical insurance of workers to be made mandatory.
  • Workplaces shall have a gap of 1 hour between shifts. They will stagger the lunch breaks of staff to ensure social distancing.
  • Total ban of non-essential visitors to premises and sites.
  • Large gatherings of 10 or more people should be discouraged. Seating should be arranged such that each person is at least 6 feet away at job sites, meetings/gatherings and training sessions.
  1. National Directives for Covid-19 Management enforced by District Magistrate through fines and penal action as prescribed in Disaster Management Act, 2005.
  • Wearing of face mask is compulsory in all public places and workplaces.
  • All those in charge of public places, workplaces and transport will have to ensure social distancing.
  • No organization or manager of a public place shall allow gatherings of 5 or more persons.
  • Gatherings such as marriages and funerals will be strictly regulated by District Magistrate.
  • Spitting in public places shall be punishable by fine.
  • Frequent cleaning of common surfaces in offices and workplaces and handwashing shall be mandatory.
  • Intensive communication and training on good hygiene practices shall be taken up.

Along with these, the MHA has laid down other several guidelines during the lockdown to ensure that employees are safe at present and in the future. The directives put in place will not only help abate the spread of Coronavirus but will also ensure that employees, workers, individuals, etc. are less susceptible to future cases of virus spreads. Take a responsible step towards securing your employees as it is now mandatory to provide health insurance to all workers and staff members in Offices, Workplaces, and Establishments.
