Hunger bags opportunities
Roma fondly recollects that she has been a seeker of new challenges and opportunities for as long as she can remember. She believes that this has helped her attract multiple positions of responsibility. From pushing the bar in academics to exploring arts and theatre to representing her institution in the real world, Roma has unfailingly lent her best efforts to every role she has played. She says, “I think we have all been given a canvas, and how we colour it is up to us.” Her proactive approach has led to deep engagement with people across all walks. Her mantra is to stand tall with both, substance and spine.

Specialist or generalist? Choose to be both
According to Roma, getting the right outcome as per the business need is imperative. She believes that to get things done quickly around largely known problem statements, it’s best to work with specialists. However, for broader, unknown challenges that need high stakeholder involvement, being a generalist can prove to be beneficial. But eventually, both aspects are important as it is all about problem-solving in the short run and enabling growth over time.
Roma’s take on change management
According to Roma, organisations must adapt to the changing expectations of their talent irrespective of the format – full-time employees, extended workforce, or gig workers. Today, talent across the board is looking for learning, growth, and empowerment to attain their goals. Focus on meritocracy, transparent communication, demonstrated inclusion, and empathy enable that. Organisations and teams in short are just individuals working together, towards a common goal. Roma believes that her organisation must strive to meet the expectations of the talent it has, just as it strives for its customers.
