About this guide
MDIndia (MDIndia Health Insurance TPA Private Limited) is an independent, IRDAI-licensed third-party administrator. Onsurity is a group-health-insurance platform and is not affiliated with MDIndia unless your policy is specifically serviced by them. This page is a free, independent guide. For official login and real-time claim status, always use MDIndia’s own portal: mdindiaonline.com.
What is MDIndia?
A third-party administrator (TPA) does not sell or underwrite insurance. MDIndia is the service company that sits between you, the hospital and your insurer — issuing health e-cards, running the 24×7 claims helpdesk, approving cashless pre-authorisation requests and settling reimbursement claims. If your health card names MDIndia, it is MDIndia you deal with for anything claim-related, even though your insurer is a separate company.
Founded in 2000 and headquartered in Pune, MDIndia administers group and retail health policies across a wide national hospital network. Members interact with it mainly through the mdindiaonline.com portal, where you can view your e-card, intimate a claim, upload documents and track claim status. MDIndia also lets you check status by SMS and offers a member app.

How claims work through MDIndia
A TPA sits between you, the hospital and the insurer. There are two ways a claim reaches MDIndia, and the path decides how you check its status.
Cashless claim
At a network hospital, the hospital sends a pre-authorisation request to MDIndia. MDIndia approves an amount and settles it directly with the hospital, so you pay only deductions and non-payable items at discharge. Status moves from pre-auth requested to approved to settled.
Reimbursement claim
At a non-network hospital, you pay the bill yourself, then submit documents to MDIndia. They verify the file and pay the approved amount to your bank account. Status moves from documents received to under processing to approved / paid (or query raised if papers are missing). See cashless vs reimbursement for the full comparison.
How to check your MDIndia claim status
You can track a MDIndia-serviced claim in a few minutes using your policy or claim reference. The exact labels vary slightly by insurer, but the flow is the same.
Keep your claim reference handy
You will need your MDIndia member/UHID number and either your claim number or cashless (pre-authorisation) number. These appear on your health e-card, the SMS sent when the claim was registered, and your policy document.
Open the official MDIndia claim-status page
Go to mdindiaonline.com and open the claim-status page (mdindiaonline.com/Claimstatus.aspx). This is MDIndia’s own channel — Onsurity cannot look up an MDIndia-serviced claim for you, so always use the official portal for account-specific details.
Enter your claim or policy details
Type in the requested identifiers — typically your claim number or member ID — to pull up the claim record. First-time app users register once with their policy number and registered mobile to link the account.
Read the current stage
The record shows the stage — pre-authorisation requested, approved, query raised, settled or paid. Cashless claims show the amount approved to the hospital; reimbursement claims show the amount approved to your bank.
Clear any query, or call the helpline
If the status shows a query, upload the requested document promptly — an unanswered query is the most common reason a claim stalls. If anything is unclear, call MDIndia on 1800 209 7777 rather than waiting.
Finding a MDIndia network hospital
Cashless treatment only works at a hospital tied up with your insurer and MDIndia. Before a planned admission, confirm the hospital is in-network so the pre-authorisation can flow through MDIndia rather than forcing you into a reimbursement claim.
MDIndia lists its empanelled hospitals on mdindiaonline.com. You can also browse Onsurity’s cashless hospital directory and read how a third-party administrator fits into the claim chain.
Common reasons a claim gets delayed
Most MDIndia delays are document or eligibility issues, not rejections. Knowing the usual causes helps you fix a stuck claim faster.
Missing or unclear documents
A missing discharge summary, illegible bill or absent investigation report puts the claim into “query”. Reimbursement claims stall until you upload exactly what the query asks for.
Details that don’t match the policy
A name, date of birth or member ID that differs between the hospital paperwork and the policy record has to be reconciled before MDIndia can proceed.
Waiting periods and eligibility
Claims for conditions still inside a waiting period, or for a member not yet endorsed onto the policy, are held for verification with the insurer before a decision.
Non-payable and deducted items
Consumables, administrative charges and amounts above a sub-limit are deducted from the approved figure — so the settled amount can be lower than the hospital bill even when the claim is approved.
MDIndia claim status: FAQs
How do I check my MDIndia claim status online?
Open the claim-status page on mdindiaonline.com and enter your claim number or member ID to see the current stage. You can also call 1800 209 7777 with your claim number, or track updates by SMS if you registered your mobile number.
Is MDIndia an insurance company?
No. MDIndia is an IRDAI-licensed third-party administrator (TPA), not an insurer. Your insurance company underwrites and funds the policy; MDIndia administers the claims — issuing e-cards, approving cashless requests and processing reimbursements on the insurer’s behalf.
Is Onsurity the same as MDIndia?
No. Onsurity is a group-health-insurance platform and is not affiliated with MDIndia unless your specific policy is serviced by them. This page is an independent guide; for official login and real-time status use mdindiaonline.com.
What is the MDIndia toll-free number?
MDIndia’s customer-care helpline is 1800 209 7777. Keep your claim or member number ready when you call so the team can pull up your record quickly. Always confirm the current number on mdindiaonline.com, as helplines can change.
How long does an MDIndia reimbursement claim take?
Once complete documents are received and there is no pending query, reimbursement claims are typically processed within a couple of weeks, though timelines vary by insurer and claim complexity. Responding to any query quickly is the biggest factor in a fast settlement.
